7. Free Flowin’ Dharma with Tierney St. Lawson

June 9, 2019

Description: It’s really special when you find yourself in the presence of an adult person that has a childlike intelligence and energy; someone that radiates pure joy and magic. Tierney St. Lawson is this type of person. She is curious and playful, and navigates her experience freely and gracefully. The energy she brings to the world is so needed in this day and age where everything seems to be moving fast and robotically. She connects with people warmly and lovingly and lives in a way that inspires curiosity, creativity, and a deeper knowing that we have choices and freedom on our journey if we allow ourselves to be in the flow with life. Tierney grew up dancing and developed a deep sense of connection with her body and movement. She eventually became a yoga teacher and after teaching for many years and leading numerous yoga teacher trainings, Tierney came into contact with an organization called Prison Yoga Project, whose mission is to “support incarcerated people with trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness practices to promote rehabilitation, reduce recidivism, and improve public safety.” Tierney has been teaching trauma informed yoga in the San Diego Central Jail on a weekly basis for the past two years. This opportunity to offer a path for restoration in a system that is broken fuels everything she does in her work.

We also discuss:

  • Tierney’s background in dance
  • How to follow what feels good even when you don’t have a plan for how things will work out
  • How to know when you’re in the flow
